Billings, MT May 29, 2008 - Native Seedsters, Inc. released two newly designed models of Seedster that integrate seed collection, conveyance and collection in one unit on the arms of a tractor loader. The models configure Seedster seed ‘plucking’ technology in the simplest way possible.
Seedsters use counter-rotating brush and comb cylinders in near contact to pluck the seed. The more slowly rotating combing cylinder positions the seed stems for brushing by the more rapidly moving brush cylinder. As the brush and comb move into near contact, the seed is plucked, with only a small percentage of impurities, leaving the rest of the plant intact.
To keep the costs of the precisely engineered Seedsters to a minimum, the Seedsters are designed in forty-six inch wide modules. An increase in the number of modules creates a wider machine. The FH-2 is two modules or 92 inches wide and the FH-3 is three modules or 138 inches wide.
The FH-2 is apt for the smaller plots and tractors of the producers of wild flowers and specialty crops, or producers of smaller fields of native grass seed. The FH-3 meets the needs of seed producers of native grass species and larger producers of specialty crop seeds.
As Seedsters the two models are characteristically easy to attach to the loader arms of a farm tractor. In cab controls of brush and comb rpm permit the operator to calibrate the Seedster for changing conditions. Clean out takes less than 10 minutes, and the streamlined shapes minimize seed shatter. Maintenance is minimal.
